What's New

Good Afternoon MHS Families,

I hope your President’s Day holiday is both restful and relaxing.  I want to bring to your attention an incident that occurred over the weekend involving a Monterey High School student who posted a threat on the social media site Snapchat.

In light of recent events, no possible threat to our students and staff is to be taken lightly. The Monterey Police Department was notified and the situation was thoroughly investigated, including a home visit to the student’s residence. According to the Monterey Police Department, there is no credible threat to our students and staff and the student was cited and released.

I want to assure you that the safety of our stakeholders, especially our students, is our utmost priority and we will do everything in our power to help them learn and grow in a positive and safe environment.  We look forward to continuing our strong partnership and communication with families to help our students achieve at the highest levels. We urge parents and guardians to communicate with your students that in these times, any threats made in jest are not appropriate, and will be taken very seriously by both the school and law enforcement.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone at school on Tuesday.
