Joe Summers was born and raised in the Monterey Bay. A graduate of Seaside High where he was a three-sport athlete and excelled in football, Joe went on to Monterey Peninsula College to continue playing football. Joe was recruited to play football at New Mexico State University, but an injury forced him to stop playing. He went on to California State University Monterey Bay to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, graduating with the Dean's List honor in 2011..

Joe also is trained in mixed martial arts and began his training in 2008. He now trains and coaches other fighters, including over 20 amateur fighters and one professional fighter.
